Casa Cultura Soft Opening Brings Art, Music, and Community Together

This past Saturday, September 20th, Casa Cultura opened its doors for a very special moment, the soft opening during Trenton’s Art All Day celebration hosted by Artworks Trenton. It was not just about showing off a building, it was about offering our community a preview of what is to come. Casa Cultura is re-emerging as a Latino arts and culture center, and this open house gave neighbors, friends, and visitors a chance to see our vision in motion, a space that celebrates creativity, heritage, and belonging.

Throughout the day, dozens of visitors stepped inside and experienced artwork from Latino artists representing the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Colombia, and Venezuela. The exhibit showcased talent from Jazmyn Jones, Jose Bustamante, Mateo Nazario, Gabriel Ramos, Stephanie Rodriguez, and Delcita. Their work reflected the richness and depth of Latino culture, sparking conversations and inspiring guests.

The day was not only about art on the walls, it was also about music that filled the air. On stage, audiences enjoyed live performances by Gabriel Muñoz, Delcita, and Andrez Muñoz, who brought contagious energy to the celebration. Their music had people clapping, singing, and dancing, filling the neighborhood with rhythm and joy.

Outside, the atmosphere was just as vibrant. Students from The College of New Jersey Bonner Community Scholars led activities with children, sparking creativity and fun for the youngest visitors. Families, neighbors from the predominantly Latino neighborhood. The block was alive with laughter, conversation, and a genuine sense of welcome.

Reflecting on the day, Casa Cultura’s Founder and Director, Samuel Kanig, shared: “It was a beautiful and energetic day with an outpour of love and support from everyone who came.” Saturday was only the beginning. The soft opening showed us what Casa Cultura can be, a living, breathing hub of art, music, and community connection. We are grateful to every artist, musician, volunteer, visitor, and supporter who made the day unforgettable. As renovations continue and the vision grows, we invite the community to stay connected and continue this journey with us. Casa Cultura is back, and together, we are building something extraordinary.
