Casa Cultura is proud to invite the community to a special solo exhibition featuring new work by visual artist Jazmyn Jones, one of the most dynamic artists in the region.

The exhibition opens with a public reception on May 8 at 6:00 PM at Casa Cultura, 750 Cass Street in Trenton, NJ, and will run through June 10.

Jazmyn’s work is bold, expressive, and deeply personal. Through color, texture, symbols, masks, and powerful imagery, she creates art that reflects identity, resilience, cultural pride, healing, and community experience. Her pieces invite people to slow down, look closely, and connect with the stories behind the work.

Jazmyn draws much of her inspiration from the island of Puerto Rico, especially from her childhood in Ponce. Her Puerto Rican roots can be felt in the warmth, rhythm, strength, and cultural memory of her art. This new exhibition includes work inspired by her heritage, including vejigante masks and other cultural symbols that speak to Puerto Rican history, celebration, resistance, and imagination.

Jazmyn is currently serving as Artist in Residence at Casa Cultura, where her work continues to connect personal story with community voice. Her art has appeared in important spaces throughout Trenton and the region, including her mural “From Taino to Trenton” at the Trenton Free Public Library, which honors the journey from Puerto Rico to Trenton and celebrates community strength. Her work has also been featured at the Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie, where she sold two of her signature Trees of Life pieces, and she has participated in Artworks’ Art All Night and Art All Day exhibitions.

Beyond the gallery, Jazmyn is committed to arts education, youth, and community engagement. She designed and installed an art-based library at Stokes Elementary School, where she introduced her “No Wrong Way” approach to creating art without fear. She also collaborated on a second installation at Cadwalader Middle School featuring a 7-foot paper mâché tree. Through these projects, Jazmyn helps young people see art as a place of confidence, creativity, and self-expression.

Jazmyn is also a mentor and co-founder of the TMA Center, Trenton Makes Athletic Center, alongside her husband, Chester Jones. Through this work, she helps guide young people in the city through sports and creative programming. Her background in amateur boxing also continues to shape her discipline, strength, and approach to her work.

Her impact has earned her honors including the Wepa Award and the Mujeres in Power Award, recognizing her leadership, creativity, and service. She has also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. District Court for exhibiting her work during Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring her as both an artist and cultural storyteller.

What makes Jazmyn’s work powerful is not only the beauty of the pieces, but the honesty behind them. She openly shares how art has been a tool for healing, expression, and connection in her own life. Through her work, she continues to inspire others to turn their own experiences into something meaningful.

At Casa Cultura, we believe art is more than decoration. Art is a way of telling our stories. It is a way of preserving culture. It is a way of bringing people together. Jazmyn’s solo exhibition reflects that mission in a beautiful way.

We invite the community to come out, bring family and friends, and spend time with Jazmyn’s work. Come celebrate a Puerto Rican artist whose voice, vision, and talent continue to make an impact across Trenton and the region.

Come experience the colors, the stories, the masks, the memories, and the spirit behind the art.

Join us on May 8 at 6:00 PM at Casa Cultura, 750 Cass Street, Trenton, NJ, to celebrate Jazmyn Jones and her solo exhibition.
